Radar level measurement through closed tank roofs
Safe and flexible level monitoring of dangerous products in containers made of non-conductive materials
Challenge
Aggressive products such as chlorides and acids are often stored in tanks made of non-conductive materials like fibreglass. This is also true for portable IBCs that require fast processing. In those cases, the installation of a level transmitter is either not desirable or simply impossible due to a lack of mounting infrastructure.
Solution
KROHNE’s OPTIWAVE FMCW radar level transmitters can be freely suspended above those tanks to measure right through the tank roofs. Unlike ultrasonic level transmitters, the tank does not need to have an opening and the radar does not have to be attached to it for reliable and accurate level measurement. This allows for more flexibility and puts operational and occupational safety first.
Safety benefits
Increased occupational safety:Minimal effort to install and uninstall level transmitters on tanks containing dangerous products
No need for cutting openings into tanks or attach the instrument to the tank roof to measure the level inside
More flexibility:Ideal for measuring the contents of portable containers requiring fast processing such as intermediate bulk containers (IBC)
